Garmin Fenix 9: Which straps fit (43, 47 and 51mm)?

Garmin unveiled the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro on 25 August 2026. Both are available in three sizes – 43, 47 and 51mm – and use QuickFit straps. The width corresponds to the case size: the 43mm model takes QuickFit 20, the 47mm model takes QuickFit 22 and the 51mm model takes QuickFit 26. This is the same system as on the Fenix 8, so a strap for a Fenix 8 with the same case size will also fit the Fenix 9.

If you’re thinking of upgrading to a Fenix 9 but already have QuickFit straps from previous Garmin watches at home, there’s no need to worry – you can reuse them on your new watch. In this guide, we explain both how to do this and which straps fit which Fenix 9 model.

How to find the right strap

The case size is not the same as the strap width. A 47mm watch takes a QuickFit 22 strap.

Your Fenix 9 Watch strap  Also fits
43mm (Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 pro) QuickFit 20 Fenix 8 43mm, Fenix 7S, Fenix 6S, Fenix 5S
47mm (Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro) QuickFit 22 Fenix 8 47mm, Fenix 7, Fenix 6, Fenix 5
51mm (Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro) QuickFit 26 Fenix 8 51mm, Fenix 7X, Fenix 6X, Fenix 5X, Enduro 3

The Fenix 7S, 6S and 5S have 42mm cases but use the same QuickFit 20 as a 43mm Fenix 9. So if you have straps you like from an older Fenix model, you can carry them over, as long as you stick to the same size: S or 42/43mm, standard or 47mm, X or 51mm.

Fenix 9 Pro: here’s what Garmin says about straps

The Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro share QuickFit sizes, so the same attachment fits the same case size. However, Garmin’s manual includes a warning that applies only to the Pro. Garmin states that metal straps, and straps with metal parts in contact with or close to the watch case, should not be used with the Fenix 9 Pro as they may interfere with GNSS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and LTE and satellite functions, which require an active inReach subscription.

In practice, this means:

  • Fenix 9 (non-Pro): the manual contains no such warning. Choose a strap based on case size.
  • Fenix 9 Pro: Garmin recommends non-metallic Garmin straps. If you rely on the satellite, LTE or SOS functions, Garmin’s advice is the safest option.

QuickFit is not the same as Quick Release

Garmin uses two fastening systems. QuickFit is found on the Fenix, Enduro, Tactix, Quatix and Epix and has a lock built into the strap’s fastening. Quick Release is a standard spring pin used on models such as the Forerunner, Venu and Vivoactive. A QuickFit 22 strap will not fit a watch with a 22mm Quick Release, and vice versa. Therefore, a standard universal 22mm strap will not fit a 47mm Fenix 9, even if the dimensions match. The difference is explained in our compatibility guide and in How to find the right watch strap for your Garmin.

How to change the strap on a Fenix 9

According to Garmin’s manual, this can be done without tools:

  1. Slide the clasp on the QuickFit strap and remove the strap from the watch.
  2. Align the new strap with the watch.
  3. Press the strap into place. The clasp should close over the pin on the watch, so check that the strap is securely fastened.
  4. Repeat on the other side.

How to choose the material

  • Silicone is sweat-resistant and can be rinsed off after your workout, making it a great choice for a training strap.
  • Nylon is softer and more breathable but absorbs more water and dries more slowly. We compare the two in Silicone or nylon straps: which is best for running.
  • Leather is suitable for everyday wear and the office but is less resistant to sweat.
  • Metal can be used on the Fenix 9 (non-Pro), but not on the Pro model, according to Garmin.

More information about the materials can be found under Quality & materials.

Find the straps

The straps for the Fenix 9 are the same as those for the Fenix 8 in the corresponding sizes, so you’ll find them under Garmin Fenix 8. Make sure the strap specifies your case size: 43, 47 or 51mm. The full range is available under Garmin Fenix, and you can check the length in our size guide.

Frequently asked questions

Which straps fit the Garmin Fenix 9 in 43, 47 and 51 mm?

The Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro are available in 43, 47 and 51 mm. The 43 mm model takes QuickFit 20, the 47 mm model takes QuickFit 22 and the 51 mm model takes QuickFit 26.

Do Fenix 8 straps fit the Fenix 9?

Yes, provided the case size is the same. The Fenix 8 and Fenix 9 use the same QuickFit widths.

Do straps from the Fenix 7, 6 and 5 fit the Fenix 9?

Yes, within the same size range. The S models (42mm) fit a 43mm Fenix 9, the standard models (47mm) fit a 47mm model, and the X models (51mm) fit a 51mm model.

Do universal Quick Release straps fit the Fenix 9?

No. The Fenix 9 uses QuickFit, which is a different attachment system to Quick Release, even when the width measurement is the same.

Can I use metal straps on the Fenix 9?

For the Fenix 9 (non-Pro), there is no such warning in the manual. For the Fenix 9 Pro, Garmin advises against using metal straps or straps with metal parts close to the case, as they may interfere with GNSS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE and satellite functions.

Can I use third-party straps on the Fenix 9 Pro?

Garmin advises Pro owners to avoid third-party straps and to use only non-metallic Garmin straps. A third-party strap with the correct QuickFit width will fit mechanically, but Garmin’s recommendation still applies. It is particularly worth following if you rely on the satellite, LTE or SOS functions.

Do the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro use the same strap?

For the same case size, they use the same QuickFit attachment. The difference lies in Garmin’s additional advice for the Pro models.

How do I change the strap on the Fenix 9?

Slide the clasp on the QuickFit strap, remove it, press the new strap into place until the clasp closes over the pin, and repeat on the other side.
